Hi as some of you know on here I am starting my wls journey. I have been over weight as long as I can remember, I can remember being in hospital as teenager having major surgery and over hearing the nurse talking and saing I have a 14yr old weighing 80 kgs+.

this is the first time I remember someone talking about my weight and it hurt.

I saw my gp in March 7th and he agreed to send me to the bariatric physician which I am seeing tomorrow 8th of April and booked in a information session on the 1st May can't wait got to go now and get to work will let you all know how tomorrow goes

Good luck :)

Good luck for your appointment tomorrow. Its good that you have your information session booked in too, where I live they don't book the two together its a constant waiting game. xx

Good luck for the start of ur journey.x

Thanks for the comments so far was talkong to someone at work as they wanted to know if I wanted to meat for lumch tomorrow I said I couldn't as had the bariatric appointment tomorrow, as soon as I said that they said you don't want to go down that route. My parents know I have a appointment tomorrow but have to said hats a drastic thing to do, was wondering if anyone else had so many negative comments from friwnds and family, and would love to hear positive reactions to as this is a big step and undertaking got to go again as have to go back to work

I had a lot of negative comments... But its my body my happiness. It is drastic but u can still live. U need to know what u want ans stick withit. It's ur life and only u can.live it.xx

there is always going to be people who say negative things but you have to do what is right for you no one else it is you that has to live in your body not them try and keep positive and good luck

Personally, chose to tell very few people initially as did not want all the negativity that surrounds bariatric surgery from people who either don't understand or are misinformed.

And I was worried it wouldn't work for me!

Now I have told closest friends and family, anybody else who comments I just smaile and say Thank you!

I have had a lot of negativity through ignorance. My bestie has just lost 5 stone through WW. So she lectured me a lot. When I sat her down and explained the procedure, the mortality rates, complications, and the upsides. I explained how important it was to me and I wasn't making a hasty decision. I asked her as my best friend to support me. She soon came round. Good luck!

Well the day has arrived the appointment with the bariatric physician.

I have a mixture of emotions including fear, excitement etc.

Lets hope I don't make a idiot of myself when i see her today,

I have written down some questions and a rough diary of what i eat both at work and home. I don't know if she will weigh me today either, I did jump on the scales at work yesterday and not good news :-(

Will let you all know how it goes later

Good luck...remember, they are not there to judge u but to help uxx

Just finnished seeing the physician and she was lovely she really listened to me and is writing to my gp to refer to the surgeon's so I am happy she agreed with me that the sleeve would be the best option as I am border line anaemic amd wants me to start iron tablets asap she will tell my gp that. So my journey has begun. She wants me to start on protein rich recipes so I can get use to them see you all later

Brilliant..that's really positive newsx

brill news lets hope you have a quick journey

whilst i was waiting to see the doctor i was talking to the bodymorph practitioner that i saw when i did the programme and she was saying that as i had done the bodymorph programme for 24 weeks i would be able to skip that part so that was good news.

I am going to leave it for a few weeks and then check to see if the refera; has arrived from the gp and then talk to some work coleagues of mine and see if they can hurry things along.

my referral was sent in the august i got a call september with date for seminar and meet consultant so shouldnt be too long but then i guess areas might vary

When I saw the the bariatric physician on tuesday she suggested that I contact the nurse specialist who works with the Bariatric team at the hospital, which also happens to be the that I work at. I managed to find time to send her a email on the internal email system so hopefully will get some info back soon.

On another note was talking to a couple of people at work who know that I am going through the process for wls and they were asking how did the appointment go and they have said some really nice comments and said go for it.

One of the surgeons who I would like to see is in doing a operating list next week so will try and catch him quickly if I can

was a bit impatient today whilst I was at work, phoned the gp to see if the letter had been sent to him but it hasn't arrived ( I knew it wouldn't be) said to the receptionist I was phoning because I want to make sure that the gp does the referral to a particular surgeon, so they are putting a note on my file for when he back next week.

I have also asked for a copy of the referral so that I can take it into work and hand it to the surgeon himself, ( there are some perks to working in the nhs)

I know I have to be patient but want things to start moving this weight loss journey will be a expearience and a lesson to me

Do you mind me asking what kind of things were on the protein rich diet sheet you was given? Im looking for ideas.
