Weight loss can aid concentration

Losing weight can help people to concentrate more easily.
A new study by Kent State University shows that weight loss can improve memory and concentration.
The research showed that patients who underwent bariatric surgery had improved memory function 12 weeks after their operation.
The researchers involved said the study is the first evidence that anti-obesity surgery can improve memory, concentration and problem-solving skills.
There have been numerous scientific studies into the impact of bariatric surgery, which often takes the form of gastric bypass surgery, where the size and arrangement of the stomach is altered. Some of these studies have shown positive results. One recent study showed that weight loss surgery has long-term financial benefits. Others have shown that weight loss surgery can have serious side effects.
With the summer approaching, we are nearing one of the most popular times for people to lose weight. As holidays loom, and people take their swimwear out of their cupboards, everyone wants to look their best. Doctors advise eating a health, nutritious diet full of fresh fruit and vegetables, and lean meats, if you are trying to lose weight. Regular exercise is also an important factor: around 20 minutes a day is enough to make a difference.
