How did you get on at the hospital?

Hi, sorry I havent posted yet been mad busy. Well, its all a bit of a mess as my GP told me I have been approved for funding for surgery. However, this is not the case I have been approved for treatment at Prof Wildings clinic (as I am outside of the area I needed their approval). Anyway, this is not to say I cant have surgery but just not yet. I have to go through the programme at the clinic and if unsuccessful, may have surgery next year.

I saw the same Dr as you I think Dr Ad.... something sorry I cant remember his name but he was very nice. He made me think I could do this myself but no pressure and if I do not loose the weight they will look at surgery. I see him again in 3 months.

How have you found the clinic have you had any success?

Hi Mandy, yes its Dr.Aditya!my doc too.Im in same position as you only 12 months down the line.last time I saw him he said I could have a bypass either way if i lose more weight but cant keep it off or if my bmi goes to 45.My suggestion to you is if he sends you to see dietician or physio ,go.See if you can get referals for other probs ie sever joint pain ei,sleep/breathing probs, diabetes gall stones etc.it all adds to him making a case for you to have surgery.Go to slimming world if you can, show him you can lose weight, then show how you cant keep it off.take you sw book a proof, any illness/procedures you have done record them and tell him in 3 months time.If he suggests reductil try it if it does not work it all goes on record.\i see him in september so hope to get a date then,or at least be told he is applying for funding and op should be within 18 weeks after it is agreed. So 9 weeks to appointment.wait for agreement then up to 18 weeks after that.My birthday is end of March so aiming for that!Ring me if you want a chat.

Hi Marion, thanks for the advice. Ive done slimming world several times and I have lost weight but I'm no good when I'm put under pressure the weekly weigh ins used to have me in a panic and I would give up.. I'm going to have a go at it myself for a few weeks and increase my walking to every day and longer distances and see how I get on.

I will be getting an appointement through to see a dietician and a physio so will defo go to them. Dr Aditya did say he would try me on Xenical next time he sees me as my blood pressure is a bit high now and he wants that to come down a bit first. I'm not confiident I can do it alone but I'll see, I'm feeling motivated at the moment so might as well take advantage of that feeling while I have it.. Will keep in touch x
