Hiya,
Don't know if anyone watches this, but this week (Monday 09th August), it's about a girl who's lost 13 stone after a gastric bypass and is aiming to have NHS funded surgery on her boobs.
Might be worth a look? (the whole programme - I'm not suggesting anyone just pervs over her chest! lol)

OOhhh sounds interesting, I dont usually watch it but I think I will this week :D x (not to perv obviously :D) x

Thanks Louanne - I'd like to watch this.

Put on Sky+ - should be interesting xx

Thanks hun. I'm busy on Monday evening, but will definitely watch it on the channel 4 catch up service.

oooo ill be watching!! always up for a perv meeeee xxx

It was a damn good programme last week (thanks Keeley for letting me know so sharpish, I taped it).

After seeing the gastric bypass operation... my husband has not been the same with me since!

He doesn't want me to have a gastric bypass... he says a gastric band would have been acceptable...

I'm trying to show tolerance, understanding and diplomacy since I know he has been worried about my health over the last year or two... but I shall take my lead from Mr Ammori and then call my hubby to share an explanation...

I was wondering if anyone else had felt resistance from their partners pre surgery?

It's understandable, since it's fear of the unknown... I am trying to get my hubby involved on here and hoping it will help him, since he's really tried to put me off today!

There can be no way back for me since my health can't take it... I can only go forward.

Much love to you all xxx

Bev, Mr T is very supportive. It was my parents and siblings who were opposed to begin with. It has been very difficult because my parents live 4000 miles away and so most of the discussions have been conducted by phone. My mom very quickly came round and as my siblings have seen my health deteriorate since I was referred over a year ago, they now see it really is the only way I am going to get better. My parents were over for a visit a few months ago so I sat my dad down and showed him this site - showed him some of the before and after pictures. Then I showed him a video on youtube about the procedure - I did not subject him to an actual real op but there was one that I found that explained the procedure step by step. He was not totally convinced but I think more than anything seeing for himself how disabled I have become persuaded him that it was for the best. Now he rings me every other day to ask if I have had heard when the op is going to be ...bless him. Just be patient with hubby he will come round.

My hubby has been very supportive right from the beginning. So have my family - I was convinced my mother would be a bit weird about it, but she was fine (apart from getting confused and telling my sister I was having a "tummy tuck" !!)

Thanks both of you... I think it's natural for our loved ones to have to work through some of the anxieties that we feel. If I didn't have the co-morbidities I probably would not be so desperate to have the surgery.

Have had a lovely evening with hubby and friends here.... I like to be open and have had a good session talking it through with everyone tonight... I've got a good hubby of 30 years, he knows in his heart that it's the right move for me or it will shorten my life for sure... I personally think he struggled through some invasive surgery I have had in the last year and it's tough on our carers and relatives at times... will have to give him more tlc... thank you very much for your thoughtful understanding... take care xxx

yes bev you have to do your rutine and strip off and run round the garden more often, hehe xx
my hubby was the same at the first and my mum - they read all the bad storys in the papers and think thats going to happen to me but like i said to them - the storys that the magazines or papers usually write are bad ones but thats because if there wasnt any problems involved it then becomes not that good a story to write if you get my meaning. mum was saying about the band to begin with and then when she read her some of the posts and got her to research into it and showed her some of the before/after photos on here they now understand. not only that.... i love my sweet stuff, i have to be dragged out of the shop without buying chocolate i am a chocoholic, lol and with a band i would easily be able to cheat it i think where as a bypass makes you dump with too much sweet stuff therefore makes you stay away from it. im not going to suffer the pain of an operation to be able to cheat it after... id rather do it and do it properly! i hope this helps!
get him on here and show him the before and after pics!
lots of luv xxx
