Some pain meds can cause constipation. The ones that like codeine of morphine.

It's like that for the first week after surgery for some reason, a combination of not much intake, aneasthetic, not moving so much and then all of a sudden bang!

Things soon get back to normal once proper food is going in, just drink as much fluid as you can...
