How do I find out my PCT's time scale for the gastric banding operation?

Hi Rozzi

If you have any problems calling them you can also go through PALS (patient advice and liaison service). You need to ask them who they contract the service to (is it done within an in borough nhs hospital, or do they sub-contract to a private hospital etc), and if they have a contracted delivery schedule (i.e. first appointment has to be within x weeks from referral, op within x weeks etc).

Thanks so much. My GP is a bit vague and I just want to prepare myself if its going to be a long wait.

Have you been refered yet Rozzi? It does all depend on funding and your PCT though.

I think you could just make a general enquiry, cant see why they should'nt tell you predicted waiting times etc.

I know when I rang up PALS about abdominoplasty the other week they didn't ask for any of my details.
