Website Hijacking

Hey.. I have experienced twice so far me being kidnapped from this site and being transferred over to another site. The first time it happened I was trying to enter the SlimFast section and got sent to a Porn Site and just now, I was in the Slim Fast section and was entering a thread and got transferred over to a cash for gold site.

Both times when I backed up and re-entered where I wanted I got taken back to the porn or gold site three times before I was able to break the cycle.

I was wondering if there was some hijacking going on? I don't visit porn sites and have no viruses or malicious cookies on this computer (it's brand new and just scanned yesterday).

Just wanted to bring this to someone's attention in case there is a bigger problem lurking.

That sounds like XXX toolbar, it is like a virus and alters all your searches and takes you to places you don't want to go. Take the computer back to where you got it and ask them to sort it out for you

My mums computer got 'infected' with it a few years ago and everytime you tried to search for something it would come up with a smutty interperetation!

Ooh errrr. That's not good.

I haven't had that happen here and not seen reports from anyone else either, so tempted to think you do have a trojan there.

Could your virus protection be missing it? I know that sometimes mine has, and I've had to use a few different ones before it's found it. Then usually ended up doing a format.

Have you tried doing a system restore? (In safe mode....otherwise it will probably just come back again)

Anyway, I'll bring this to Pierce's attention just in case. Best be safe than sorry.

When I got Trojan on mine Norton couldn't remove it automatically so I had to do it manually

Thanks for the website Pierce. I do have anti virus protection, but went ahead and scanned it anyways (took forever!) and still nothing. Honestly, I don't really think I have anything on my computer. Like I mentioned, it's a pretty blank slate here being that it's brand new... and I have no time to alter it like i used to tinker with computers.

And seriously, I go no where on this computer. It's either email or minimins. That's it. :8855:

It's not a big deal, I just wanted to make someone aware in case someone else was having the same problems or if there might be a security issue with the website.

The other thing to remember is that not all anti-virus software is made equal. Most Antivirus software will find most viruses/trojans. But only a few of them will find all viruses.

The other important thing to remember is that anti-virus doesn't mean your protected from spyware. You can use Spybot Search & Destroy: The home of Spybot-S&D!

Or spyware doctor theres loads of them out there.

Spybot is excellent IMO and helped me get rid of a Trojan horse that was making my PC act in a similar way

The link www.minimins.com/slimfast leads to an infection (or attempted infection from win32.Zbot. This is a difficult trojan to remove.
This is a keylogging trojan with the ability to install remote viewing software. Plus it is a nasty bit of work to try and remove.


Ensure you have a good backup (without infection) and that system restore is active in xp or vista.

If you have this, use an application called ComboFix.

If you have the minimins.com/slimfast saved in your favourites, delete it as this is infected. It has taken my OH ages to sort out my computer. Hopefully now it is sorted.

Do you have any proof that SlimFast - MiniMins.com - Weight Loss Support Forum tries to infect your computer?

Its the exact same page (the code used to create it) as every other page like the cambridge diet forum, or weight watchers etc, so it would be every forum thread listings page page on the whole site.

It seems to only happen when i used an old link i had saved in my favourites. But have deleted and now using a the link from scratch and it hasnt happened, Am going to get laptop rebuilt but this seems to only happen when i use this site.
