May I ask?

What Obesity related conditions did you have (or still have) prior to surgery.

I have terrible acid reflux (I think)
Joint pain (especially my back and hips)
Gall bladder flare up twice

*I had type 2 diabetes, - blood sugar now fine.
*Knee and ankle pain, only hurts when it rains (sadly live in rainy Wales), and no-where near as badly.
*Hideous TOTM - the consultant said it was to do with my age and weight after I'd had agonising tests done. Glad it wasn't anything awful. So far they are still hideous.

i have arthritic knees which bothered me alot before losing weight, they now only bother me when its very cold and damp where as b4 it was daily pain, shortness of breath has gone and i can walk ages or run up the stairs and im now fine.
i had high bp which ive stil got but its meds controlled to a safe level.
i had pcos which i still have.
i used to have boils that sprung up all over my body with no warning they said this was down to bad food choices, ive not had any for a very long time now.

 Great thread!! I have the following:
High blood pressure
Type II Diabetes
Gallstones
Bad back (had a couple of operations on it)
Boils popping up on my body too (same as you 2bandsliz) - i think your right, bad food choice and totm
DVT
PCOS

If i try a little harder i could get every letter of the alphabet

i hope the surgery will help even just a little with some of these.

Hi Sue

You see the related conditions on various web-sites but I thought it would be interesting to ask the real folk.

I've got high BP (controlled with meds), aching knee joints and shortness of breath - hoping knee joints and SOB will go after op x

Hi all

I still have high blood pressure (too early to start coming off pills)
Lower back pain when walking - gone!
Arthritic knee - still there for the present but I need surgery on it
Stress incontinence - seems to have disappeared!
Depression - seem to be having more good than bad days at the mo

Think thats it!

thanks for the kind words Snow - I had my bypass at the Whittington who have a whole department dedicated to obesity - its called NLOSS and you can find it on the Whittington website. My surgeon was the clinical lead - Mr Sufi who takes no prisoners but is dedicated to making his department run efficiently and actually cares about his patients. If you need any more info - shout!
