Hello :wave_cry:

I need inspiration. I know I have not been having enough protein and have been very tired at times.
Can anyone advise of some nice foods I can make, since I am moving from the mushy stage to a more normal diet? My weight loss is at 15-16lb since a bypass on 22nd Feb.

Thank you:D

Why not try a lovely tasty chicken, chorizo, butter bean/chick pea casserole ... Full of protein :) ... If you bypassers can eat things like that x

That may be a bit much to start with! Things like casseroles and shepherds pie are very good around this time. Also slow cooked roast was a good one for me. Try a little bit of everything and see what your pouch will tolerate.

Fish, eggs, cheese, milk, yoghurt, quorn, meat all good sources if you not veggoie but have put quorn on cos less fat in it. Base your meals round these with fruit n veg, n couple of meals with carbs should you need em xx

Lol ... There's me not knowing anything. I will keep quiet :ignore: mmmm

Never! Your advice is usually very sound hun :) I think you are advised to go filling and crunchy quite soon to aid restriction whereas we are advised soft and sludgy to aid digestion.

COngrats on the good loss, by the way! You sound like you're doing well and the first two weeks everyone is knackered. I found it was the anaesthetic that kicked my bum lol

Hi Thanks for the advice everyone, starting to feel totally normal now! Back taking the dog for a walk and go back to work in 3 weeks time. I have tried some low fat quiche today, lovely! Trying to drink lots of NAS orange juice to avoid toilet problems. Hope my weightloss stall stops, although I can see myself I am getting smaller. I am freezing all of the time, especially my feet! And my skin is dry however I know this is normal. I now have to stop overfeeding my hubby! Thanks again x

Looks like you're doing fine, borogirl. Whenever I'm in doubt, I'll have a homemade stew or broth/ soup done up, which lasts a couple of days etc.
Eating meat I still find a struggle and usually just nibble away and listen out for my pouch to rumble... Fish, I seem to have gone right off altogether, yet eggs I can manage in whatever form.

I'm not getting on too well with meat either and white fish is tasting 'wrong' but my dietician told me on Tuesday that the best thing to snack on if you are low on protein is cheese.

To be honest I'm having a terrible diet at the moment. Everything is revolving around 'something' on crackerbread. Liver pate, fish pate, cheese.

Slow cooked meat & fish is great it tenderises even the toughest cut, keeping it moist & tasty. Low fat cheese, soya, quorn, tofu, eggs etc are all great protein sources plus yoghurts, milk, protein powders to add to soups, stews, shakes etc. its a case of trial & error with our new tums somedays it will accept certain foods, other days it won't or visa-versa, gradually you will learn what's good for you.

Cheese is a definate no-no for me, cannot stand the stuff. Have tried various types and they all repulse me. Roast meat is now a thing of the past (sigh), all meats should be steamed/ slow cooked etc and served with gravy/ sauce etc.
It's all trial and error at this stage and beyond I'm afraid.

I find fillet steak cooked very rare goes down fine for me but I'm a sleever. I can only manage 1/2 but I love it. Stews, casseroles and slow-cooked meat works well too and I could eat salmon every day if I could! Sadly chicken doesn't work for me at all in any form which I am sad about as I love chicken. Cheese triangles are always in my fridge for a quick protein boost :)

Love my roasts as long as I chew slowly & fully drowned in gravy, pre-op I rarely had gravy. Rice & pasta are my nemesis ready meals in small diesels goes down well but home cooked has to be even smaller amounts as it continues to swell in the pouch & rabid dog issues follow 9 times out of 10. Not good. Bread is a challenge toasted OS better than fresh but sometimes you just need a sarnie, so 1slice makes a sandwich & I just about cope.
