I was refused nhs cuz i dont have any health problems. I think it does vary from area to area. At least going private i didn't have to wait a long time

band fitted 16.01.14

Thanks for that , yeah I am worried they will say they , start 3 tier weight management next week so hope I will be considered at least

My GP said 2 years of weight management. I couldn't wait that long so went private. Besides being obese I was pretty healthy.

Hey yep, PCOS wasnt considered and I was refused once because of my general good health. My doc appealed and I was accepted. Keep pushing, there are many hoops to jump through for nhs treatment :)

I didn't have any co morbidities but my BMI was over 50 which qualifies in this part of Lincolnshire

It's all confusing , at what point do they tell you you don't qualify ? I would hate to go through all the process just to be told no and there never was a chance

Hi,

My BMI was 53, im 22yrs old and was accepted in Leicestershire. No comorbidities what so ever!

Thanks Hun for that , maybe I have a chance then too x

I think it's very dependent on your bmi hun. Most trusts insist on 50+ BUT....anyone with co morbidities usually take preference if you are in good health, within the trust.

xx

I did :( 18 months of tier 3 only to be refused at the end!! I was 23 years old with a BMI of 53.
You need to have patience, focus and a doctor that is willing to fight for you xXx

Hi, My BMI was over 50 with no other illness and I was accepted with no qualms. But the whole process did take 1 year from first initial appointment at docs x good luck

I have been now I'm in West London! So yes you can be, I've not been asked to follow any weight management plans either, they accepted my GP's information. xx

Hi

This was similar to my case in South London but the whole process took just roughly two years.

First referred by gp in April last yr, had surgery a week ago :) system is much quicker now if you keep to the diets they give you!

Thanks Marie great news for you , that was quick what area if you don't mind me asking ? X
