    Pain ....

It is early days as you say, and a small amount of pain may be normal, however if it lasts and or the pain is severe then I would suggest calling your team/nurse for an opinion or go see your GP if you can't get hold of your team. All the best!

    Tell or not tell?

I too have told all my family and close friends. Everyone was supportive and if they weren't, frankly I'd rather know so I can cut them out of my life. I chose surgery because I want to improve my health and live my best life. A lot of my family and friends are also overweight or obese so I...

People over 30 stone pre op

My body just stopped losing, certainly at a rapid pace, at some point. And it didn't upset me. Some weeks I lose a little, others I don't. And it's ok. But if you can and want to keep going, all kudos to you! Your body has other plans :-)

People over 30 stone pre op

You are doing fantastically well!! You rock! I don't feel I've settled. I am healthy. My BP is consistently perfect these days, my blood tests are fine, I have no other health issues due to obesity, and I feel fantastic. Of course I aim to lose more, but I don't put myself under pressure or...

People over 30 stone pre op

Hello and welcome! It's lovely here, everyone's very supportive. I started at just over 27st and am now just over 18st. I feel fantastic, and even if I don't lose another pound, I am very grateful for my surgery and very very happy at my current weight. I think it's important to go in with...

    Alcoholic Beverages

I never drank much alcohol prior to surgery, just the odd glass of wine with dinner. I would strongly suggest to be at home when you first try alcohol! We tend to get drunk so much quicker now, and I think I felt quite nauseous the first time I had some. My team recommended to wait 2 years...

Bypassees! I have some questions for you!

Hi discojen! Loving your questions! I am just over 2 years out from a gastric bypass, so can perhaps give a slightly long term view (although not that long term ;-) ). 1. I think I am mourning the food before I have even had the procedure, is this normal? Yes I think that's normal. I...

    Pre-op tomorrow.... So nervous!

Most of my pre-op appointment was spent waiting as there were so many people there.. they had also told me to allow several hours ;-) You can definitely take someone with you if you like, up to you. I don't remember all the questions, but I remember I saw nurses and the anaesthetist. Bloods...

    Weight loss ward guy

I've just finished watching the program. Yes his attitude at the beginning was crap and he was not at all appreciative of the chance he'd been given and the special treatment the hospital was providing for him too. I'm sure everyone waiting for months/years for surgery would have been really mad...

    Emotional Eating?

I'm two years out now from RNY and I can eat anything too, but not a full meal (restaurant portion, let alone more than one course). I don't properly dump but I do get very sleepy after a big meal or loads of carbs, which is a form of dumping I'm told. I get uncomfortable if I eat too much...

how much weight loss in the first weeks of sleeve opp

Yes it is normal to feel very tired in the first few weeks - you're not taking in much nutrients as you're 'eating' so little. Your body will be tired and recovering from the surgery too. Weight loss will happen, just have a little patience and try not to obsess about the scales. Think of the...

    What to say?

Just say you're eating less and better and exercising more - it's not a lie and yet you don't have to say anything about the surgery! :-)

sorry bit off topic - but need help

Hiya, So sorry you are feeling so rough. I thought I'd add my 2 cents if that's ok... I've had gallstones for about 20 years (if not longer) and I fully understand the pain an discomfort they can cause! It really can be horrendous. In the last 10 years though I very rarely have an episode, so...

20 months later and minus 9 stone I promise you it is worth it! The diet pre op is the hardest part. You've got this - trust yourself and go for it x
