5 weeks post op, and no weight loss in 6 days!!!!!!

emma dont panic about it if you read through past posts every one stalls at some time. yr body has gone through major trauma and has got to adjust. I will put money on it that although you may not of lost weight this week you will be loosing size. get that tape measure out even if you have never done it before. and get a record going.
This wont be the only stall you have and is very normal. dont loose heart it will strt coming off again soon.

maybe you need to up your fluids a little. Also have you gone from liquids to sloppies. As I have seen this can affect peoples loss when you go onto normal food apparently you can eat less than on sloppies. I think you will find it starts to come off again in the next few days. Good luck.

hi emma dont think ive lost anything either. x

Nothing that anyone can say will make this weight loss 'stall' any easier on you, I know this because I hit one myself a few weeks back and it depressed me incredibly and nothing that any of my wonderful wls friends said to me or that my darling husband said to me helped me to feel better. I knew that logically I couldnt have stopped losing weight forever but there was a part of my mind that was convinced that I would never lose any more weight and I actually got to the point where I said "well thats it, if I get to this time next year and am ANY slimmer then I will be amazed" and I started to focus on the other brilliant things that my weight loss had brought to me and then I weighed myself and expected no loss or even more gain (I had started the stall with a 1lb gain) but that lb had come off along with 5lbs more. I smiled really big and was really happy about that but somehow it felt like an anticlimax and I was dissapointed about that but I am happy about it now because I was obsessed with the weight loss and not concentrating on the awesome gifts that this op has given to me and now, even though the weight does mean a LOT to me it isnt the be all and end all, it is part of a much bigger picture. I lost another 3lbs last week after that initial restart of weight loss and am very very very happy about it but the inch off my waistline in that same time frame thrills me just as much.
Next time a weight loss stall happens to me, and it WILL do, I will KNOW that it will end eventually and to just be patient about it, but like I said, nothing any of us say will help you really because the mindset you get into during your first post-op stall is a hard time.
All that I can really advise you to do is to spend time focusing on the positive effects of your weight loss so far and maybe that will take away the potency of the disappointment because the weight is in a bit of a stall.
It WILL start coming off again xx

Hi Emma,

It is perfectly normal to have a week with no weight loss, as Carole has said this is probably the week you see the inches come off.

I see you have lost 33lb already:happy096:

Hang in there.

Love Mini xxx

I just need to add to mine that I saw NO inch loss at all during my stall which freaked me out because of what everyone else said and as right as everyone is dont be freaked out too badly if no inches come off either, they WILL soon xx

Didnt want to read and run im only a week post op so cannot comment really, wanted to wish you luck and hope the weight loss starts again soon:)

you mustn't compare yourselves to others. I learned that early on as we are so individual... some get early stalls, some never stall, some lose consistently the same amount each week, others have big losses followed by small losses... its very individual.

Be proud of what you have achieved so far. 33lb is awesome for 5 weeks xx

I knew it!!!

I knew I could rely on you lot to make me feel better.

Thankyou SO much, your support really means the world to me.

Hi Emma,
Found this a little late to help!
Hopefully the wonderful girls have made you feel a little better. Get Colin to hide your scales and only get on them once a week, easier said than done I know....much love and huggles xx

Hi sweetheart - everyone has given you some good advice on not losing any weight. I do it regularly - i have found that once i lost 5st quickly i have long periods were i don't lose anything (it's as if my body is catching up with all the changes it's going through), and then the weight starts to come off again. I've also found that even when i'm not losing weight i am losing inches - so don't worry about it. You will keep losing and you will get to your goal weight just enjoy the new you emerging.

Sending you hugs and fairy dust xx

I really must get Colin to hide the scales, I have just been so eager to see the weight coming off I've been obsessed!!!

Weighed myself this morning - lost 2lbs - Yay me!!!

Thanks again everyone, you're all brill!!!!!

xx

Yayyyyyyyyy @ 2lbs
See, it does start to come off again, this journey teaches us a lot about patience xx

Glad your stall has ended hun xx

i must say, that i'm now 4 months down the line and my weight loss figures stall all the time, for many weeks at a time, i just persevere, cos i know ultimately the weight will go...for you women it must be harder in some ways cos you have your time of the month to deal with too...i look at what i've lost so far and am well chuffed with that, i believe we all set our expectations just a little too high for weekly weightloss and set ourselves up for a mini fall when we don't reach that target, you've done brilliant, don't lose heart, just keep doing what ya doing, it'll all come good x

I gained a pound last week (I am 7 weeks post-op) but now that I am looking more normal, I don't mind too much. The others are right, 33 pounds is amazing! I am going to go back to posting what my daily diet is, as it keeps me focussed. And I'll have to admit to any vinos collapsos!

Hi emma just to say im in the same boat as you but ive taken on board some of the advice on this post... so good luck and keep your chin up!!
