Most people get referred to Derby Royal for bariatric surgery. There are no seminars as such at derby, but there's a support group there. I think it runs on the third Wednesday of every month. But the dietician will tell you about that at your initial appointment.

Do you now which type of wls you want ?

That's great thanks Paula. Hmmm before all my research I thought band but after, I'm guessing it will be a bypass with my bmi 60+ but I will take anything offered if I'm honest. I don't know anyone at all personally who has been thru this and as all areas do things so differently I am at a loss to what the process is. I asked my gp in April to refer me so she referred me to the dietician who last week discharged me, still go to weigh in clinics every 8 weeks tho. My gp referred me around 7 weeks ago so just waiting kinda patiently but just would like a idea of wait times and all different appointments I will be attending . Thanks for the reply, what surgery did you have?

You'll probably get an appointment soon then. I had a BMI of 56, and I chose a bypass as it was better suited to my eating habits. On your first appointment you'll see the consultant, dietician and anaesthetist. I'd start writing down any questions you have and take them with you.

If your undecided as to which procedure you want, discuss your eating habits with the consultant. He is best to advise you as to which procedure will be best for you :)
