Bleeding Gums

Mine were last week but this week are better. I suspect it's due to malnutrition and rapid weight loss. My x had bleedign gums all his life and despite investigations, it was just the way he was.

Is it just when you clean your teeth? Mention it to the nurse when you next speak to her or dietition.

You pregnant kate ! lol thats only time my gums bled not really sure why they are bleeding for you now but sure someone will come along soon with some good advice x

from the Simpsons, he was a Saxaphone player ...may be a little too old for your kids yet, though there's not a day goes by that it's not on in our house

The Simpsons are never off in my house either, my children are obsessed, they probably know who he is

My gums have been bleeding too Kate only when i brush my teeth i'm going to the dentist hopefully next week( for a filling) and i was going to mention it so if i get info i'll let you know x

I cant mention it to my dentist as my aunty is the dentist nurse and I dont care about confidentiality etc I know she would tell my uncle and he would then say it to my daddy who would go mad about my aunt telling tales etc, thats the sort of them, nosey fu*kers, i'll mention it to the nurse when im getting my fill on Wednesday

If it is scurvey - then either add more weezals to your food as they contain a huge does of vit c or alternatively pop into boots and pick up some vit c tablets, chewy or everesents !

Hi Yummy,

You need to pop along and see a dentist, bleeding gums is a sigh of gum disease. It can also be that you are brushing too often or too hard or the brush itself is too hard.

You could try a mouthwash containing chlorahexidine, this can help kill bacteria that causes gum disease.

Get it checked cause it can lead to peridontal disease which can cause tooth decay.

Not always a sign of gum disease, it can be a sign of vit defiency - vit K or something like that. Mention it to your dietition & dental nurse just in case.

I have had bleeding gums for years, at first I was told it was because I did not floss. So I flossed alot and it got worse. Then I was told it was lack of Vit C so I took lots. Didn't help at all and too much Vit C can give you bowel trouble so that was fun  not! Anyway, come to find out that my hormone problems (increased hormone production due to PCOS) causes me to have bleeding gums. I have noticed that it has reduced since my surgery but not completely gone away. That could be down to either my hormones being more stable or my much healthier vitamin & mineral rich diet or possibly a combination of both! It is always good advice to when in doubt mention it to your team.

Nic:p

If you haven't taken your vitamins for 2 months it's scurvy you silly girl.
Get 'em down your neck. There was a news item about a women who died of malnutrition a couple of weeks ago after a bypass just because she didn't take her vitamins. You could be next.

Admittedly some people have bleeding gums for various other reasons, but if they've started bleeding after a bypass, and especially after not taking your meds, it'll be scurvy. Vit C tablets taste quite nice don't they? Next step is your teeth fall out.

I know this isn't a very nice mail, but you need telling.

Here's the article about the dead dieter
