Bypass op?

No they aren't your surgeon may need to open you up as a very last resort they do.t like to do them open surgery but sometimes they have to. I'm sure you will be fine though xxx

Might me a silly question... Are all bypass ops done as key hole?
I'd had two previous surgeries. Gall bladder out and a huge op - Kidney with adrenal gland out.

I thought they wouldnt be able to do the RNY keyhole and was told at Cheadle Hospital that the best option was to try the gastric sleeve with the risk of converting to open.
I put my foot down as I was diabetic and the idea of the op was primarily to send that into remission, as the RNY was a better prospect of this I changed the surgeon and hospital, and insisted on an attempt at RNY keyhole with sleeve as back up plan.
( one of the benefits of having private funding is you have a little power until they get their hands on the wonga!)

Despite having all sorts of adhesions and prior surgery the keyhole RNY worked fine.

I don't think you have anything to worry about.
