Calories

hiya lulunics :)

think i take in about 600 a day atm and rarely go over 800. energy levels normal now (8 weeks post op) so dont think i will need to adjust it. sometimes put in a days worth of food onto myfitnesspal to keep a check.

I almost 6 weeks and most days im like 1200/1300 and I think its cus im on puree and I not liking it at all so the foods I eat are carb heavy which mean high calories I have 2 weeks till I can go to normal food and I think then my calorie intake will drop somewhat. Im still loosing I have lost 47lb since I started pre-op beginning of September but I haven't really been given any guidance after the 1st 4 weeks on calorie allowance. I cant drink protein shakes as they make me feel really ill im so looking forward to eating some chicken as blended its vile.

i didnt get any guidance either and havnt been given any goals which is a bit weird. theyre very supportive when i go but the dietician just told me to eat more cheese so i get some calcium as i dont drink milk (or protein shakes)

thing is youre losing well and as long as your team is happy with your loss then you must be doing whats right for you. seems the different parts of the country have different rules cus i was encouraged to have cheesey mash and mushed up baked beans within a week of surgery. didnt really do the pureed stage cus it made me sick tho im sure someone will say this is wrong.

you need to do whats right for you at the end of the day and if youre losing thats the goal innit :)

I am 6 weeks Post Op and going for first fill tomorrow..I average about 800/900 cals a day,
But I am 5'10" tall and a big Gal..so I have been told I am not eating enough Cals and have upped my intake to about 1100

Im told by a few trusted members on here that Is their optimum cals for best weight loss
But I also think its how many your burn up as well
Good Luck xxx

Hi there, I am only 10 days post op and have been advised to take in about 1000 calories a day once I go onto real food! I am on liquids only until Friday and then I can't wait to get my teeth into some cottage pie!! Ooooooh yes and salmon!! I am hallucinating!! xxx

I'm 5 weeks and a bit post op and I'm on nowhere near 1000 calories, I'm around 5-600 max, physically find it difficult eating more than that. I'm due to see my dietician and surgeon next week so I'll ask then.

Im seeing mine on Friday so fingers crossed I will get some guidance then I can only eat very small amounts but I get hungry every 1.5-2 hours so when I add all the little amounts up it soon adds up. I eat things like bread sticks and dips, ryvitta thins and peanut butter, cheesy mash, Weetabix, corn beef, mince and stuff like that but I get so bored of the same things. 2 weeks and counting till I can eat normal foods Im looking forward to a chicken salad lol
