Change of op

Has anyone gone in for the bypass and come out with the band or sleeve? my surgeon mentioned it could be a possibility if there was complications,

Hi Nigel, not but I did begin this journey thinking I would be opting for a sleeve and moving to having a band (to be fitted this Friday). Although my reasons are not medical - I ultimately decided I wanted a procedure that can be reversed - I am comfortable with my decision. Whatever it is I am sure it will be successful and the start of a new you!!

I think when I saw the surgeon before the op he did say that he was going for the bypass but if the bowel wouldnt stretch up enough to reach the pouch then it would have to be the sleeve, band was never mentioned. But it was asuccessful bypass, and key hole, my liver had shrunk quite nicely. Good luck with what ever you decide along with your surgeon, he did say to me at 1 app, i took my hubby along he had reservations, but surgeon looked at me and said if he thought I had any reservations he wouldnt be putting me forward for the surgery, because it is for life. x Good luck with everything. x

Hi there im have revisional surgery on the 27 aug going from a band to a bypass

But my surgeon said that if there was any problems due to scar tissue from the band and he couldnt do the bypass then he might have to do the duodenal switch i had never heard of this procedure till he mentioned it so am now researching it just in case. Its gonna be a little scary waking up not knowing what i have had done but i guess i wont have any say in it lol. good luck hope it goes okay, whatever you have.

i wouldve been pretty gutted if id opted for one surgery and during surgery came out with another,surely they have to ask u first..itd be a bit like going to have a kidney taken out and them taking ur leg off instead x
