Different dress size, top and bottom!

Had strange day (again!) went out shopping for weeked sherry tasting meeting , trying to find a nice dress, after trawling through many shops I have found out that I am two sizes bigger on my top half to my bottom and am having a real struggle finding a dress that fits me (without looking like a granny!) Has any one had the same problem, I dont want to wear seperates and Im desperate to show a bit of leg now that they have lost the tree trunk look :giggle:

Story of my life. I am bigger on the bottom than I'm at the top. An exaggerated pear. If my bottom is a 26, my top will be a 22.

could you compromise and get away with the "middle" size so its a bit tighter on top but looser at the bottom.
