driving post-op

morning lovely ladies and gents, can anyone tell me how soon you can drive after a band? im meeting friends one week after my op and will have to drive for about 10 mins there and back. thanx

It's for insurance purpose. One week after been under general anesthetic was my guidelines. Just check with your insurance but most of them says a week as it is minor surgery I.e keyhole

As said you ne to check your insurance company... with mine i couldnt drive for 6 weeks... Also you will need to go with what your body tells you... some people are too tired to drive at one week, but others are ok.. everybody is different... but do check your insurance company xx

General rule of thumb clinicians use is when you can safely do an emergency stop you are safe to drive - this depends on so many other things than just the surgery. Good Luck xx

I drove 3 days after bypass, My Insurance company which I work for normally go on the doctor's orders, So as the doctor said I will be fine to drive, I went for it.

My insurance company said today as soon as my doctor says I can drive then they will abide by this. My hospital team advised after 2weeks & only if I can do an emergency stop.
I'm day 9 post op sleeve. I think you must check with your insurance company & doctor as there is obviously a great deal of difference here on this site.
Can't wait to get back behind the wheel.
Good luck.
