My OH will be when he has completed weight management. His were being a type 2 diabetic since his early 20's, plus an underactive thyroid. He doesnt meet our PCT's BMI criteria.
Mine was exceptional circumstances, my pct had put a stop temp on all wls funding and their was no set date in the near future to when they would be funding wls.
I was meant to go to the panel that deal with exceptional circumstances but as that was not being held due to the freeze on funding.
I was on the verge of needing a carer as my osti arthritis and sciatica had got so bad i was often bed bound for 3/4 days at a time, so they figured out that my needs would cost them much more in the long run especially with the allocation of a carer for 17 hrs a week, so in my case a one of fee of bout 10 grand for my bypass would save them a whole lot of money in the future, so the director of the pct just granted me my funding after an hr of having my papers, and here i am now 9 days post op and doing good xx
My BMI was 37 when I was initially referred to the dietician and at that time our PCT wasn't accepting anyone with a BMI under 40.
I've needed a knee replacement since 2006 and I'm considered too young to have the surgery as the knee would need replacing again in 8-10 years, so I got my funding based on that.
