On Sunday I cooked slow roasted pork shoulder and ate a small amount, a roast potato, roasted parsnip, cauliflower and gravy. Monday morning pain on left side by one of my scars on and off loo most of the day and I thought because I had eaten too much and absorbed some fat from the pork however only managed to eat half an egg yesterday before being on loo. The rest of the day I just drank milky coffee, still after 15 mins on the loo and today had a yogurt drink straight on the loo. So have I got a bug or Is it something else, do I call dr, should I stay off dairy for a day or so worried about protein.:cry::cry::cry:

Hi I'm not sure re the bypass but I do know milk is one of the worst things to have on an upset tummy just stick to water and maybe dry toast or a dry biscuit and see if it settles hope your better soon x

I remembered that with the milk but been worried about lack of PROTEIN over the past few days. Think I will just have water to see as suggested. Thanks for replying

I'm really sorry I don't know X hope your better soon x

Yes, try only water for a few hours and see, will hopefully clear your system.

Sorry to read your poorly, I think stuck to water plain crackers because to me if your sick from both ends your not keeping the proteins in anyway! But in hoping by the time you read this and maybe speaking to your gp your already getting better

Still as bad thought I was ok yesterday for a while and a friend popped in, I spent all the time she was here on the loo. Called Spire hospital and waiting a call back.

oh no, poor thing X done the right thing calling the clinic X

Oh no Beep ! I hope you get an answer for your sickness , poor you :(
I asked about sickness before I left the hospital yesterday and the lovely sister , pippa , said I was to contact my surgery and ask for anti sickness injection as the retching can damage the band , so I guess it would cause your bypass stress also ..

So no call back from Spire so called my Dr. I feel fine in myself, I'm not showing any signs of dehydration asked if I had any pain...no.....anyone been ill....no.....i said that I had felt around my tummy and have no pain when I press down on my tummy. I eat and within 15-39 mins I get a pain on left of my body and have to run to loo (tmi) mass evacuation of bowls! Its the same with a milky coffee. I've had two Imodium type tablets as was at the end of my tether with the dash to loo. Dr advised to do a stool sample to go off in morning and keep fluids up

Poor you.

Having been a slave to my bowels since gall bladder surgery from 2008 to 2014, plus lots of infections meaning antibiotics a few years ago, I think it may be the dairy/fat that is doing it. I also get pain by my scar site of my appendectomy from 2011 if I eat lamb or beef. Pork is usually but not always ok.

It is possible to buy protein powder from a health food shop that is not dairy based. I have had one based on peas. Doesn't have the higher percentage of dairy protein though.

It could also be the change in gut bacteria. After many tests and revolting concoctions, plus imodium that made problems worse I found out by chance it was gut bacteria as I had been stung, had a bad reaction and the only thing I could face was yoghurt. After 3 weeks of a live bacteria yoghurt diet it had all cleared up. I mentioned this to the specialist dietician I was seeing and he researched the yoghurt and prescribed me probiotics. Have had no problems since.

Maybe if water only works then introduce yoghurt only to start with and hopefully you will get some results soon from doctor?

Hope you feel better soon. x
