How long have you had to wait on NHS after seeing surgeon to getting your wls, particularly bands? I was told at my surgeon consultation (2 weeks ago) that it would be 8-10wks for my op and in the meantime would be having pre-op appointment. Have had my pre-op appointment through, and it's not until 14th July. I rang to ask how long it would be after pre-op and was told 8-10wks AAAAGH. I know it sounds selfish because at least I'm having the op done, but I am gutted really coz I thought I'd be done much earlier

my area is a year from meeting the surgeon, but my area is a high demand area on the nhs x

Hi there djbp98 :)

my journey so far has been over 2 years due to being referred from one hospital to another to another. My first app with the surgeon who will actually operate was well over a year ago, he then needed to refer me upward to a colleague caz of other health probs, I have sleep tests this thursday, dont get the results from that until 7 july.

I have been 'approved', do not have a pre op date, and have been told that all being well, late autumn.

I sympathise with you, it is VERY frustrating, but my best advice is to try focus on something else and take a 'philosophical' atitude to it, that it will happen when it happens. :sigh:

I live in an area of high demand (London) although to be fair most people do not have to wait as long as I have by far.

What you need to remember is that the country does not have that many surgeons who specialise in this field and it is becoming an ever popular procedure. Be reassured that whilst it is taking a long time, at least you will be in good hands.:)

Wish you all the best on your journey Xx

Thanks Liz and Swizzlestick. I'm Miss Impatient!!! It's been about the same length of time for me Swizzle to get this far too, about 2yrs. Fortunately I don't have sleep apnea so don't need to wait for that test and results to come through. I really hope you get yours soon too, and then we can both sit on that losers bench ;-) It's the first time ever that I want to be known as "A LOSER" lol

hi dj, where in cornwall do you live? i have been refered to the wlsurgeon but haven't even had a 1st appointment yet :( i understand the impatience as im impatient too and it seems like its taking forever but im sure it will be worth it in the end (fingers crossed) :):)
cornwall seems to have a general lack of wls compared to other areas :(

Hi djbp98 isn't it frustrating? When I went for my first appointment back in January I really thought my bypass would have been done by now. Hmmm. Now I've been told to '......look at Christmas and anything before that is a bonus' !!! There's nothing much you can do about it really. It doesn't sound selfish at all - once the decision has been made we all want it as quickly as poss. Chin up, you'll get there. Zxx

Hi, my consultant (West Yorks) said approx 18 weeks. BUT I've waited 12 months to see him due to funding shortages...
