July 2014 Surgeries

So you have a risk assessment that says 10 days phased but you do three and then thats it, sounds like a breach of hr policy and your risk assessment. Its wrong isnt it! Maybe collapse of the floor tomorrow for effect, bet you get your 10 days then. Ive got 2 weeks off leave then 2 weeks office based duties, hopefully i will be good to go after that.

The doctors note advised a 10 day phased return however "apparently" HR are getting funny about my half day in the office half at home phased return saying that how can I work at home but not at work. Fed up!! X

Well a full day split between the two is better than a half day in the office and a doctors note stating you can only do 4hrs!! Unfortunately most employers these days are only on your side when you are doing what they want, any deviation and you might as well look for a job else where. I hope you get in sorted, if not just chin up and as i always say ' laugh it off' because otherwise it will get you down. Hey if you can go through with this surgery you can get through a day with an idiot boss!!

OMG. No!

They can't do that!! Breaching Health and Safety as they would need another opinion from an Occupational Health specialist before doing that! They cannot go against GPs advise without it and a meeting with you!

Your manager had no right. Go to HR yourself!

xx

I'm struggling with being back at work. Doing 8-1 or 2. Getting home at 3pm and sleeping until 8pm! I'm going to try and increase the hours next week and back full time the week after. xx

Sophia you need to have a serious discussion with the manager above your manager, they are breaking the rules big time and you could end up making a claim agents them if anything happens, but health and safety says that you are also responsible for your own safety. Tell the manager you are struggling and you need to have the full 10 days starting with tomorrow as they didn't stick to the rules. I would also slip into the conversation that you had a word with a solicitor friend who advised you about health and safety and the hefty fines companies can be charged for breaking them . They don't have to know you don't know a solicitor. Good luck and take care of yourself because no other bugger will :)

Thanks Ladies,

I was pretty sure it was breaking some sort of rule/law. I will have a discussion with my manager today as I am just so exhausted. And I have a stinking cold/cough which I've now had for 12 days and it won't budge, don't think the exhaustion is helping!

Hope you are getting on ok Helen! Have your work been ok with you? X

I have a sleeve

That's why you don't have a pouch! The pouch is a result of RNY-bypass only, not sleeve, which reduces the size of your stomach by removing the anterior curvature, but doesn't create anything new and rearrange your "plumbing".

So you're saying you're always feeling hungry? Is that what you mean by always having to have something in your stomach?

Hi Sophia, I hope you get something sorted at work, as others have said your employers have a duty to care towards you and I think they're being a bit naughty! Xx

Thanks Hun. Everyone will be glad to know that I spoke to my boss, explained the situation and I am back on half days in the office half at home at least for the rest of the week :) and she said if I struggle at home to just take a half day. I just don't think she understood how much I was struggling as I tend to put on a brave face x

Surprisingly Dave no I am not saying I am always hungry.

So it's just a physical feeling of needing to have something in your stomach? Like an empty feeling?

Perhaps it's because it's something new to your body and so there's a period of adjustment? It's a strange one. Maybe discuss with your provider? It's what aftercare is for....

Wishing you all the very best.

Hi Sophia glad you got it sorted at work, management will always try it on they just need to know they won't get away with it :)

Anyone else have loud noise's in there stomach i especially when just eaten or had something to drink lol
Oh yes. My insides are very 'vocal' x
