Hi Nikki, might be worth pming justliz as she had the band to bypass conversion. I can't compare to a band obviously, but I don't get pain, but occasionally get the golf ball feeling.

Hi Vampalicious. I had a band for 8 years. It worked great at first and then I experienced a lot of pain and, like you, could feel everything going through it. Then the restriction stopped. Turned out the band had migrated (which basically means it had sliced through my stomach wall) and I had to have the band removed. I go into hospital on Friday for a bypass, so I'll let you know what it feels like and how it differs from the band in a couple of weeks. Good luck with getting the funding.
