Can anyone help me, has anyone had this done and how are you doing?
I'm 7 weeks post op with a vertical sleeve gastrectomy. It's the best thing I've ever done for myself, have lost 2 stone and only have 4 teeny tiny scars which will disappear. I'm not going on to phase 2, duodenal switch. My BMI wasn't high enough to start with for that, plus I have other medical issues which also rule out DS. But that's fine. I know I can achieve and maintain a good healthy weight just with the VSG. I don't understand why it's not a more popular choice among surgeons. Yes, it's more invasive than the band and it's not reversible like the band, but it leaves the internal anatomy pretty much intact. Bypass changes the plumbing. Bypass is the right choice for some people, I'm not knocking it. I just don't get why the sleeve is so rare.![]()
Can't understand why more are not having it done, I understand that the band will not last forever and needs replacing after so many years and adjustment's annually, is this right?
Hi
Yes I agree with Sarah I was told if I`m not happy with the weight loss after 18 months they would give me the bypass . But I`m hoping to get the bypass but I`ll have to wait and see what happens tomorrow .
Good luck and take care .
