New here.....

Hi all,

I'm old hat to dieting and exercise ....... Ive struggled with my weight all my life but now I've had enough of it!! My doctor referred me to see a specialist for WLS and I have my first appointment in March for an assessment.

I was mixed emotions at first. But I'm now beginning to feel positive at the thought of getting a great tool to help with my lifelong struggle. I'm even beginning to feel a little excited at the prospect of being slim & healthy for the first time EVER!!!!! The thought of being able to buy clothes I really like rather than just picking the best from the Plus Size range (that cost a fortune!), actually liking myself in photos, not feeling so clumsy all the time or self-conscious that I take up so much room on the bus...... So many things to look forward to!!!!

Here's to getting to know you all a bit better and hearing your stories :)

Hi country bumpkin... Great to meet you I'm relatively new to this been to first seminar and 1st of 12 meetings I have to do up here.., Darlington are.. Whereabouts are you .. X

Hey CountryBumkin :welcome2: Good luck with your journey ahead <3 Slim and healthy can be an exciting but also terrifying thought - for me it kind of feels like dreaming to big and waiting for the let down as it's such an alien concept to me but hopefully that will change the further down the road I go it will become more of an achievable thought and part of my norm.

Hello and welcome!

Hi Country Bumpkin, hope your wls journey is a smooth one it can be a waiting game but the waiting prepares you mentally. This is a big decision and use the tome wisely to research wls surgery options. There are a lot of good threads on here please look at the good and the bad so that you know what could happen along the way. For some its a breeze for some it swaps one issue for another. I do not aim to put you off as I am a bypasser and am pleased I did it. But some people do not have the rosie life after that they dreamed about. If I can be of any help then just ask. xx

Hey peeps ...... Thankyou all for such a warm welcome :thankyou:

Sorry for my late reply .....
The main reason being that my PC is right next to a horrible cold draught!!! So Ive been sitting in the warm, researching WLS on my tablet (I find it hard to type on my tablet, like texting on a phone, so avoid it as much as possible, I much prefer a real keyboard) ..... Ive also been thrashing the gym 3 times per week!!!!! :whacky068:

Chrisa : Thankyou for your tips. I have been researching, researching and researching some more. Ive put myself on a healthy eating diet and joined the gym (through the doctor) in order to make a start on weight loss and get "into" the new lifestyle that (hopefully) lies ahead. At first, I was terrified at the thought of surgery and the new lifestyle it brings. My head was all over the place not knowing whether or not it was the right thing for me. But now, having read blogs of people who have done it (including their complications), having researched the process and afterlife, having read peoples experiences on forums, Im happy that it is the right thing to do. At least, its right for me to follow up the idea and talk to people about it, see surgeons/dieticians, etc and hear what they have to say. After all, theres nothing yet to say that I will even be accepted for surgery.......

Nice to see some of you are from Cornwall :) I was born & bred in the Truro area and have spent just about all my life living somewhere between Truro - Penzance parts of Cornwall ..... A right proper Country Bumkin!!!!!!

Hi all,

I did reply yesterday but my post seems to have disappeared??? Unless it is still with the Moderators as I'm a newbie.....???????

Anyway, long & short of it was a BIG thank you for the lovely welcome :)

And for those asking/wondering, I was born & bred in the Truro area and have spent just about all my life living somewhere between Truro - Penzance. Its great to see others on the forum down here...... kinda makes me feel notso alone on this journey :)

Great to "meet" you all :)

Hey Emmie,

Great to hear from you - another member in the Sunny South West :) :) :) Welcome :) :)

I've discovered there's a few here in Cornwall - I found a thread in the "General Surgical Weight Loss Discussion" forum ...... Look for thread "Questions for those 'done' at Treliske Cornwall"

I haven't looked at the funding as I've been referred by the doctor I assumed its all dealt with by the NHS. Guess I better check it out, just in case......

This may sound daft, but I've been trying to create a 'ticker' (a little bar with an icon that moves along to show your progress) - kinda make it feel more real, that I really AM gonna do this once & for all. Also, I like the idea of a list of goals that other members have as a signature to their posts, but I can't figure that out how to do that either ........ Simple things that may help keep one on track!!!

It is very exciting isn't it? But bloomin scarey at the same time though eh?

Looking forward to getting to know you. Where are you with your appointments? Have you had your first one yet? Mine is in March with Mr.Dugal........ Good luck with your journey :) :) :) xxx
