Newbie Pre assesment

I am really glad i found this forum I had for a minute thought there was little online about WLS in the UK from a patients perspective after not finding much on youtube et al.

This however is an amazing forum.

I was referred by my GP to Homerton for WLS after years battling High BP and PCOS. I have been referred to several specialist consultants in my conditions with little luck and they decided that WLS was the only way left to try

The letter that came through says it is a pre assessment appointment on the 9th of June and is accompanied by a second letter for a consultant appointment booked for the 1st of July. can anyone please let me know what to expect at these appointments. Is the second consultant appointment pre op?

Welcome I had my op last October I had a bypass, found it difficult to,start with but I'm copying ok. Everyday is different. You will get lots of advice on here but remember no question is silly, what's worrying you someone else will have had that worry so ask away. :) Good luck with your journey.

Good luck for today patience!!! I am also under the Homerton. I had my consultant and dietician appointments on 9/5/15. Have had a letter through saying I am suitable for WLS and will be discussed at the next MDT meeting.

Where abouts are you? I'm in essex.

Hello and welcome!
I'm also at homerton my surgery is tomorrow ??
At the first appointment you will be weighed and have your height and blood pressure taken. Then you'll have a chat with a nurse or dietician and go though a a history of your eating habits and such and then you might (probably) will have to attend a group session talking about the types of surgery etc - it's all pretty straight forward :)
Oh and a lil heads up they will weigh you at every appointment.

Hi thanks for the info. And Congratulations on being accepted for WLS. I am in Romford. Did you have a pre assessment appointment before you had one with the consultant and dietician or was it all done on the same day?
