Hi all, not been on here for a while but my surgery is Thursday morning at the Luton & Dunstable 11am...

Hope everything goes well for you, I'm waiting to meet Mr Barreca, 31st Oct and hopefully get a date for surgery then. How long have you had to wait? Would be really interested in hearing about you experiences, both past and future.
Seem to come from the same neck of the woods too, I'm from Brightlingsea.

Thanks for all the kind messages.

Just to give a quick timescale of my experience:

December 2010 - Mentioned bariatric surgery to my GP, who looked into it

20th Jan 2011 - First appointment at L&D

11th May - Appointments to see Bariatric nurse, psychologist and dietitian - placed on milk diet for 5 weeks

17th June - Taken off milk diet and put on re-feed diet. Asked which consultant I would like to see, I opted for the one with the shortest waiting list, Mr Barreca.

8th August - Met Mr Barreca who talked me through the options and I choose the bypass. Signed relevant paperwork for elective surgery

20th October - Pre-operative assesment and collected self-injector and tablets to take day before surgery

Tomorrow is the day...

Hope that is helpful for those who wanted to know, quite happy to answer any questions

Update time.

Had my op last Thursday at the L&D and was discharged on Saturday morning.

Feeling fine, wound area bruised and a little sore but glad it is over.

Cannot fault the staff at the L&D wonderful people.
