Ruthie, I see you've updated your stats and now showing 3lb to go - well done you!

Will you be happy with that, or will you go for a little more (or should that be less?)? I know you've said in the past you would take another look at the goal posts when you get to target.

Thank you Muttley..and thanks for the pm pointing me at this thread!

To answer your question; no I am not "settling" for 10st, I'd ideally like to be in the mid nine's somewhere..but we'll see how we go. I think any lower than that and I'll start looking like that TV psychic Sally Morgan that Lorraine Rainbow Andrews went to see last Friday night and took a snapshot of. She's approx my age and my height and somewhere in the 7s and looks awful IMHO. The airbrushed photos of her you get when you Google her images don't reflect the true skeletalness of her in an untouched up photo.

I really should watch more TV then I'd prob know whom you are talking about - will now have to "look her up"!

Has Sally Morgan had WLS then? Seen a number of pictures of her on the web - and it looks as if she has lost a lot of weight.

Yep she had a bypass & did a tv programme on her 'journey'.

She actually inspired me to go for WLS in her tv programme My Big Fat Operation. Yes she has certainly done well.

She's done rather TOO well IMHO lol! Good for her though, but shouldn't we all be watching out for the addictive properties of weight loss, even to the detriment of how we look?

I agree for health reasons, we need to watch out. I'm not sure about the "how we look" part of what you say though.

I suppose, we have to be happy / self assured with ourselves and for many that includes how we look and how we think others perceive us.

I gave up "trying to be handsome" some years ago - I make the best of a "bad thing" and brush up okay and I am happy with that (even though when we go out to a black tie event I look like James Bond with a thiroyd problem). My partner, though, thinks I am handsome and is worried that I will become too thin - all in the eye of the beholder I suppose.

Now where I am with life, my priorities have changed - health first and everything else will have to fall into 2nd place.
