Hiya again tis just me yer dafty scottish lassie here with something to ask!

Was wondering if anyone knew if you can get funding to go private? To be honest i am not sure how all the funding works! any advice or links or just a slap on the back of head would be great muh dears! :confused::confused::confused::confused:

To my knowledge you can't. Funding relates to NHS patients.

What happens (generally) is that your GP needs to make a referral to your local bariatrics team.

Broadly speaking, If they agree that you meet the criteria for bariatric surgery, your case then goes before a multi disciplinary panel and then funding is applied they (or in some cases your GP) then refers to your local PCT for funding.

There are also a range of test that are carried out to ensure you are of sound mind and body to undergo surgery.

The criteria seems to vary greatly from PCT to PCT, so it is essentially a bit of a lottery.

Of course the NHS is completely useless ive had my expericeies with them and all not good
so i am not expecting much if anything from them.
