My GP wrote off to the PCT for funding in June. I was advised during a phone call to the PCT to chase it up that I was unlikely to get funding and that they would probably recommend attending weight management clinic for a period of time. Whilst waiting to hear a yes or no from PCT my GP referred me to Dr New at Hope hospital (the PCT woman recommended this). I have seen Dr New and he is referring me to the Surgeon Mr Ammori and I am waiting for an appointment. In the meantime the PCT did recommend I attend weight management clinic for two years. My GP wrote back asking if they could take into account that I had been trying various methods, drugs and weight management clinic course since feb 2006 we are still waiting for an answer (letter got lost in the post so had to be faxed over). Meanwhile the PCT said if my sleep apnea test results came back positive that would carry more weight towards my request. Its a case of waiting, I know your desperate for them to say yes but you have to ease up a bit on yourself. It takes time and nothing happens over night, some get funding straight away but everyones case is different. You also have to be sure that its what you want and that the doctors think its best for you. If you read all the surgical weight loss posts on this forum you will see that it is not a quick fix and people still struggle to lower the eating and to get the weight to fall off. I dont mean any of this unkindly I know how frustrating it gets because you want a life, I never go anywhere any more and spend my time at home in my pjs for comfort, I want to get back out there and have fun. Fight for it but dont make it an obsession...hope this helps....you are not alone I am in the same boat as are others on here....chin up chuck...Linda x
