How long after op and getting home did it take to get back to semi normal? Being able to get about and go out?

Ali gonna-be-slim-soon xx

Week 1 at home, little walk round garden, lots of sleep.
Week 2 venture further,sleep on side,eat better.
Week 3 wounds healing,walking better,showering.
Week 4 feel more normal,shopping a bit,loads of energy,weight shifting!
Everyone is different though!

Just trying to find out as my op is 1st July and my fella has booked a week off work and isn't sure if it's enough time, I have 2 disabled kids to get ready for school in the mornings 18 & 13 but one has ADHD (no concentration) and mental ages way below there ages, so need someone telling them what to do constantly, luckily their only at school for a few weeks then half term. I had a c section with my 3rd child and over did it when I came home and was in so much pain, so don't want to do that again. So just trying to get ideas of where I will be a week after.

Thanks ali

With the bypass its a bit easier than a c section because its done by keyhole surgery I found it easy to get about and didnt find showering a problem from day 1 but I think I was lucky as I didnt have any pain. I started taking my 8 year old to school after six days but my husband did the driving I was drivng at 2 weeks I think you should be ok but once the children have gone to school just have a bit of a rest because you may feel a bit tired I think most people have this after any op. I know how you feel worrying about the children my 8 year old has ASD and doesnt like change.

Everyone is completely different but I had my op on the tues, off pain killers on the thurs and out of hospital, popped to the bank and hairdressers on the fri, went out for a coffee to a garden centre on the sat, round to my sisters on the sun completely pain free ( it wasnt horrendous pain more like uncomfortable internal pain) on the tues and driving.
I'm back to work on Monday.

I do find tho that you can over do it and get tired easily so take it very slow and take long rests in between.

I just did things when I felt up to it.

I had my gall bladder removed through key hole 6 years ago. And I had the op on the Monday and by the Thursday I was on my hands n knees scrubbing the shower! I had no pain from the gas at all was sore coughing, sneezing and hicupping but that really was about it! Sooo hope the op for my sleeve is the same :D x
