You can say to people not only are you loosing weight you are getting younger too. lol.

Well done on your 5.5stone loss you must be so proud.

Hi Debbiejane

All I know is that you can become more fertile after losing lots of weight...the Lighter life and Cambridge counsellors all warn you about this...but I not sure I understand the science behind this...But I have never heard of menopause reversal due to weight loss...

Fantastic weight loss Debbie...well done!!

Could be that you were wrongly diagnosed with early onset menopause and having lost weight now, your body has just kicked in! Would find a good contraceptive if I were you unless you want to get pregnant LOL!

I am 48 and haven't had a period since April. Had my bypass in July so hope to carry on like tht certainly don't want it back again!!!!

hi
nope not heard of it but i have got pregnant 4 times each time after losing quite a bit of weight.
it is a fact the annorexic women stop their periods when they go under 6 stone as this is the weight when most girls turn into young ladies, dont know teh medical facts but its also true that when you go over a weight your periods also stop.
very odd but there is medical reseach to back it up.
maybe your body is not quite ready to go into period retirement lol xxx

Hi debbiejane,

I have come across several women over the years on here who had no periods or had trouble conceiving ...and then after losing weight their periods returned and they got pregnant.

Fat is now recognized as being a very hormonally active tissue, producing both estrogen and testosterone. These hormones are stored in your fat which acts like a storage unit.

As you lose weight, the fat releases these hormones into your blood stream which may result in increased fertility.

You will see this clearly how rapid weight loss on a vlcd can disrupts the menstrual cycle and it is advised that women who are doing a vlcd to take extra precaution if they do not want to get pregnant.

It is also recommended that those who have had weight loss surgery use birth control for the first 18 months after their operation!

I hope this helps.

thanks mini brill explanation.you dont think my tubes will shrink an sterelisation not work xxxxxx

Hardly! But then nothing is truly full proof.

Have a look on this link below.

One of the things I notice about people who lose a few stone or more in weight is that they look younger looking...so probably the hormones rushing through the blood from rapid weight loss is youthtifying!:D
