Surgery without general anaesthetic?

Has anyone had a band/sleeve/by-pass without having a general anaesthetic? By having a nerve block for example?

This surgery couldn't be performed under anything other than a general anaesthetic a spinal block works from umbilicus down but would need to be much higher than that for WLS which isn't possible as local anaesthetic would affect diaphragm (muscle used for breathing) and also possibly the heart which could put into cardiac arrest x
