Urine infection

Has anyone else suffered a urine infection after their WLS (probably through the catheter being inserted)? I've had this a week now. I've tried over the counter remedies and a course of antibiotics from the doctor but it still hurts and its taking the fun out of losing all this weight........

me too but I have recurring infections - keep up the water intake and ask the doctor if you need a different antibiotic as they dont always work first time - good luck x

Hi,im sure the doctors what they are doing, but i was told after surgery, slow dissolving medicines don’t stay in your new pouch that long, so i was wondering if the antibiotics are staying in your system long enough before passing through you. just a thought

Cranberry juice is excellent for preventing and reducing symptoms of cystitis, but I'm not sure whether it's something you're allowed to have post-op. Does anyone know?

Well I did try the over the counter remedies that have cranberry juice as its base but they didn't work. Went back to the doctor yesterday. He was gonna call me cos he'd had the results back that afternoon of my urine sample. Seems I have a particularly nasty (and quite rare) form of infection that the first lot iof antibiotics he gave me are resistant to. I now have new antibiotics and have just slept through the night without having to get up to the loo and actually feel human this morning!!! I asked him whether it was having the catheter in during the op that caused it but he didn't know for sure. Anyway....on the mend now (thank goodness)

didnt think but i bought cranberry juice yesterday not sure why I have it though as i didnt have a catheter but this is the 2nd time i have had it in 5 weeks.
going to dilute the cranberry juice.
