weight loss before surgery

Ok this may be a silly question but I keep seeing people saying it's best to lose as much as possible before surgery.... why is that?

Many reasons, it means less to lose after the op, the less you weigh the less anaesthetic you need so the safer it is, the less you weigh the easier it is to get around post op, if you have been reducing calories pre op your liver will be smaller and less fatty which is a huge plus, thats all I can think of off the top of my head :)

I agree with all of the above from butterfly lady plus by yiu losing weight before any WLS it shows your commitment to the process and that by you losing weight and keeping it off shows them doctors, your pct
that your willing and able to meet them half way

All of the above, plus if you're used to eating less and healthier its not going to be such a big shock to you when you start with your new eating regime :)
