with the NHS for the weight management specialist team that my doctor refered me to in Jan 
In the time its taken for me to get one letter for 1st appt i been and had it done privately and am 4 weeks post op!
The letter they sent me was so unprofessional also, it was all headed with the wrong hospital and all phone numbers scribbled out as they where for the wrong place and no other phone number to contact the correct place.
They also got my DOB wrong and added 10 years onto me
I got a number of internet to phone to let them know i would not be attending but got given another 3 numbers before i eventually got the right place.
Told the lady on the phone that the letter was appauling and she asked my name and said it was her who had sent the letter to me and she was not one bit bothered about the state of it.
I informed her that i would not be attending and that in the time it had taken for me to recieve my 1st appt i had gone private and was post op. She was quite ignorant and hung up very quickly...ho hum!!!
I am so glad i went private, i think the NHS is great for some people but the waiting times are ridiculous especially when the people actually want to be help...rant over! lol
