What do you drink when you go out?? And what do you completely avoid?!?!?

Thanks!!

And what about Champers?? I have three weddings in the next few weeks! I don't seem to dump.

I have the odd glass of wine (pinot grigio). Cannot stomach any kind of creamy drinks like baileys now. I have had champagne a couple of times and it has been okay but I can't drink more than a glass and I prefer it topped up with OJ

wine for me when I go out. I was always a lager drinker pre op, but have been too scared to try it post op due to the fizz, but seeing the thread about how many are having fizzy drinks I might get a bottle in and try it at home.

I'm a boring fart and drink water or cordial :)

I'm so relaxed when I go out I just join in, where before, I would need a few drinks to relax!

I've never been a big drinker but did have my first alchoholic drink 2 wks ago 11 months after surgery, i had a vodka and diet coke and felt totally fine!

I have had a baileys and malibu , it was fine too nice infact, i try to stick to water or squash in a pub , you can get away with tea or coffee if we go for a meal.

Hi Meggie

I tend to go for a gin or vodka and slim line tonic when I'm out, lots of ice in a tall glass banishes the bubbles. Only 50 calories too.

I have wine at home and I have had champagne too - just the odd one and was fine.

As a bypasser you would be wise to try at home to see how you react.

Enjoy the weddings!

I have had champers at xmas and was fine (full bottle ) lol. When Im out I drink Vodka and not had a lager since November 2008

Ime out this Friday, St Georges Day, for the first time since the op i will try alcohol, previously i was a heavy drinker drinking upto 50 pints a week and tbh it frightens me to death but i promised myself i wouldnt have a drink before and i havnt since the 6th nov so i will drink wine or Guinness which is full of iron (so they say) and water in between has my friends will be drinking heavily during the long day, normally i would be out at 11am and home when i fell over but thankfully alcohol doesnt run my life anymore and i hope i dont get a bad reaction to it.

Good thread. I've only had a single vodka and fresh orange so far, but as i have a night out in May planned i will have a couple of practice runs at home to find out my new limitations. Previously i enjoyed the odd glass of Port at home as well as kahlua and Baileys. Has anyone that dumps had problems with either of these drinks ?

I have wine and j20 , i tried a sip of cava as this was my tipple when the girls were round but the bubble's didnt feel nice and it was too gassy so i just stick to still drinks , iv tried different drinks at home before a night out and some drinks hit me quicker than others so i just stick to the wine and j20 now x

hmm going to France on my jollies next month, I may have to have a glass or two of the old plonk, just to check that I will be ok, BUT as I don't feel ready yet, and I am not supposed to either! I will wait till just before we go away. Normally I have tap water, great on a night out, cheap as chips as no one can charge you for it now ha ha!

I have tried vodka and j20 or juice and was fine. Drank it so amazingly slowly that there was no realy chance of getting drunk anyway!! Hahahaha!!

I get drunk at the drop of a hat so don't really drink very often. That said, post op I have tried wine, just half a glass to avoid getting tipsy and it's been fine, also the odd small Tia Maria with diet coke, yum.

Cuppa xx

I may try a glass of wine tonight. Just for research purposes!!!

very similar to peeps above - fresh orange juice topped up with good old water :D

I have tried a Vodka - at christmas - and a glass of wine, but only managed a few sips.

Like Mixy - I seem to be quite relaxed when I go out now and feel that alcohol isn't needed - am high on life lol!!

I have vodka and sugar free red bull, not everywhere has sugar free and normal red bull is fine too. Have had vodka and diet coke once and been fine, and a small glass of dry white wine has been fine too.

J20 seems to be loaded with sugar, but I have had one and been fine, and the same with orange juice.

My main problem is that 2 vodkas and I am legless now haha :)
