just curious! I hear everyone (well read everyone!) talking (writing) about it on here, but I'm not really sure what to expect? can anyone enlighten me? much appreciated. xxx ;)

Hi Lynne,

I had my pre op as SRH it is nothing to worry over.

I answered a lot of questions about my health, meds etc
Blood tests
BP
Hight
Weight
MRSA Swabs

Hope this helps.

Thanks Suzz! I take it you mean that you have to give blood? other than that, sounds pretty painless ! xxx

How do they do the MRSA swabs? I am a bit nervous about them actually. Do you have to be undressed and in a hospital gown?

mrsa very easy one up the nose one from the groin the best bit about mrsa very has it but only few have the bad ones if you show pos for mrsa you get 7days worth of micro bactria wash head to toe and cream up the nose and if that dont get rid of it you get your own room lol i know i got mrsa so ill be side room

I had a peak flow test and ECG on mine as well as bloods, urine and Mesa, and will have everything done again on Tuesday!

Mine consisted of seeing a pre-assessment nurse specialist who said her role was basically to make sure I'm fit for the anaesthetic. She asked lots of questions and did BP, pulse and oxygen levels. I had MRSA swabs done (she gave them to me to swab myself - one for both nostrils and one for both sides of my groins).

Then I saw the doctor who listened to my heart and breathing, checked my abdo and looked at the veins in my neck. She said she will be referring me to the anaesthetist as I'm asthmatic and it's possible I'll be called to see them in out-patient clinic before surgery or just on the day of my op!!

I have been given forms to get my bloods done about a week before the op,

That's about it!!

Same as above. I have had 3 altogether at Spires.
1st - presentation on different kinds of surgery
Chat with dietician
Bloods
ECG & swabs (all about 2hrs)

2nd - Chat with surgeon & anaethestist (about 10 mins!!)

3rd - final blood test 5 days before surgery (2mins!!)

All have been totally fine & nothing to fear at all x

Fantastic! thanks everyone. nothing to fear where all that is concerned. best wishes. Lynne xxx
