What Obesity Related Conditions Did U Have Prior To Surgery?

May I ask?

What Obesity related conditions did you have (or still have) prior to surgery.

I have terrible acid reflux (I think)
Joint pain (especially my back and hips)
Gall bladder flare up twice

~X~

Hi Guys

I have PCOS, not even that many cysts on my ovaries, but I have really bad body hair. I have to shave my beard and chest every day. I have had laser hair removal, but the hair came back thicker each time that in the end I gave up.
I never had any issues with my weight. The only reason I went to the weight management clinic was because my and my OH wish to have children. The only way to reduce the PCOS was weight loss, hence why I am on this journey.
I am aiming for as little or as much weight loss that comes, I just want to be healthy enough to have children, and be able to live a full life with the children. I began my weight loss journey at Salford Hospital approx 18 months ago, and now Im 3 weeks post op :D

Oh and so far...I have only ever had 4 TOTM in my life...dreading having to have them...only ever been on for 1 day at a time when I was 12 and 13! :(

I have hypothyroid and cirrhosis of the liver (not from alchohol) which got my first WLS cancelled while I was anesthetised and on the table. Then this past summer I got sudden onset severe T2 diabetes, which is why the surgeon who initially stopped my first surgery was prepared to give it a second shot as long as I realized I was high risk from complications and even death because of my liver. I agreed to the risks and now have normal blood sugar with NO meds- I was injecting 30 units of insulin per day. My liver specialist is happy too because the VSG will reduce the fat in my crapped out liver and make it in better shape for a course of interferon/ ribavirin.

shortness of breath
severe tiredness

Hi all - this is my little list:

Hypothyroid (won't be helped by surgery but meds will be reduced).
Type 2 diabetes.
Asthma.
Candida.
Very painful ankles.
Leg pains (probably veins - but not varicose yet!)
Acid reflux

What a mess!

farzu i think you would enjoy being pregnant if you lost some weight i have not long had my second baby and i found it really hard.not only was i carrying all my weight but also the weight of a baby inwhich she was 11 pound 13 oz it was difficult

Oooooooooooooh, nearly 12 pounds. You poor, poor thing. I though 10lb was a lot. Oooooooh I'm crossing my legs in sympathy. You brave girl you.

well Snow.. here you go.. here's mine for you to add to your little list..

these are all related and some still suffer from..

Osteoarthritis in all joints from lower spine including coccyx down (both hips, both knees - so bad knees are displaced and inoperable on due to my age - a sprightly 37) and both ankles, also in shoulder, left elbow, both wrists but only slightly and kuckles on both hands..
severe pain in cold, damp weather to point am bed-bound and totally reliant on OH for simple things like getting sat up or even making it to the toilet :(

severe Obstructive sleep apnoea - now controlled by c.p.a.p machine..

high cholesterol & raised blood pressure - no medication for either
shortness of breath & occasional chest pain

depression - still suffering (and quite badly at the moment - diff story)
severe totm pain and mid-cycle pain
infertility - not pcos - been tested and ruled out
was told by gp after 3rd m/c in 10months - my body is unable to recognise am pregnant, sees foetus as an 'infection' in the womb and does as normal with most infections and starves or limits the blood supply in attempt to stop 'spread' of 'infection' - therefore my own body was killing my very own much wanted unborn baby (and yes that really was a heck of a dooozy to take in)

low self esteem - virtually non existant
No self confidence
self loathing
(some people don't class this kind of thing as weight related but it is.. it affects you mentally as well as physically when you are overweight)

limited sex life (sorry but it's also affected by weight)

erm.. think thats everything.. * sighs *

>> goes off to sit & rock in my ickle corner again..

ohhh...

I forgot to mention the impaired glucose tolerance - basically pre-diabetes (type 2)
