Yes and when the PCT told me two weeks ago I had funding but had to attend Spire Regency in Macclesfield I fought them to get him. He knows his stuff, no doubt there are other good surgeons out there but he is very down to earth. I asked him how many surgeons hand stitched and he said he only knew of one other in the country besides himself and of course his mentor who is now retired. He is very dedicated to what he does....I will be a fan for life....xx
This is something i spoke to my surgeon about. It is a myth that some surgeons use stitches instead of staples.... and all surgeons use hand stitching with the new intestinal connection to the pouch.
I dont think its a myth at all, just going off what my surgeon told me and I have no reason to doubt him as I brought up the subject not him. Every op I have seen carried out on the tv either in USA or England has shown the staples..
thankyou, you have all been very supportive of me and im feeling brave so im going to put my story on here now, may take a while to type though, maybe I could get some more advice to help me thenx
I think the hand stitching relates more to the external scars as opposed to the internal stitching.
I had Mr Ammori and would recommend him he is very warm and caring as well as a very talented surgeon. he is now operating out of several hospitals in manchester area salford royal being the latest and where i had my surgery (NHS) I would also recomment the hospital 100%

I'm sorry if i've upset you Linda, but i have no reason to doubt my surgeon either, as i too was the one who brought the subject up. I'm only telling you what i was told.
