Hi. Has anyone on here had the duodenal switch (DS)?
If so would you mind saying why you chose this over the bypass or sleeve?

I'm currently deciding between the bypass and the switch. Although it doesn't seem like many DS are not done alot each year.

Hi

I don't think we have any current members who have had a DS. We have had in the past and their reasoning was it was recommended by their surgeon.

I'm sure you've read up but post op, taking vitamins and eating 'exactly' what you are told are vital with the DS. Risk of malnutrition is much higher due to a higher element of malabsorption.

Keep researching and speak to your team to help you find the right option for you!

Good luck xx

I was advised that Luton an Dunstable would refuse to do a switch on the grounds that the additional 10% weightless was not enough to justify the abnormally high number of people ending up with deficiencies
