white stools/poo

well been on the phone to the team today, and yes it does sound like my gallbladder...in to see my surgeon next week (i was meant to be anyway for a followup) where he will request a scan on my gall bladder, and if it is gall stones then the gall bladder will have to come out...i sat and cried on the phone like a big baby, the last thing i want is another operation.. but then again, what choice do i have..but you never know it could be nothing but they seem to be pretty certain it is...the specialist nurse told me today that it is a common problem when you lose weight quickly.... if i become jaundice or in extreme pain i was told to ring her back straight away and i will need admitting...i am not that bad so hopefully i stay ok...and here i thought it was something i ate and i didnt pay much attention to it...durrrrrr

Fingers crossed things settle down.xx

As we are all talking poo .... how often do you go ? I am going once a week ! and i take laxatives .... is this normal ? thanks in advice for your poo diaries xx

hi clare, yes we are talking poo lol.... i go about 4-6 times a day, but i was constipated for about 3 weeks after surgery...how long ago did you have your surgery? i have spoken to allot of people who take laxatives after surgery but i dont know if its a longterm thing or not

Ah poor you Shannon.. I really hope they sort you out soon, even if gall bladder removal is the only way. Sending you lots of hugs, you will soon be back on track an enjoying your new life xxx

ok just a little update on my white poo lol:

well been to see the surgeon to me who booked me for an ultrasound scan ASAP, apparently to him i look jaundice but i still argued blind that i wasnt, it was the colour of the walls...he then went out and got another doctor who said, "yes she is jaundice" so i just shut up and listened.... also they were worried about the amount of white poo i am passing and the enquired about how much water i am drinking..i assured them i am drinking more than enough water (i think that saved me from direct admission).. bloods were taken, so now its the waiting game for the scan and blood results... apparently gall stones can still happen after surgery although i am on medication to help prevent this problem..the surgeon said that i may have had gallstones before the surgery but were aggravated from the surgery...so watch this space...we will soon see where this road leads me.... i dont regret the surgery that i have had, but i really dont want another surgery, i know my problem is minimal to what some people go through, but its still upsetting to know that i may have to have another surgery ...... sorry all for my little whinge x

Oh Shannon, whinge away ... you must be feeling a bit gutted so are entitled to be a bit whingey too. Hope your results are good but not sure what is good ... Can they resolve gall stones with medication? Hope so, hon :) I will watch this space :) xx

Shannon I've followed your white poo posts with interest. I understand you will be really upset at the moment and that surgery would be awful, but the most important thing is that the outcome is good and your health is not compromised. Having said that I imagine you put your trust in your surgeon to carry out your bypass, if its any help to you, my heart would say put your trust in him and the team again to get this sorted for you... Its really humbling to witness you going through this, and I imagine its going to help many others who follow in the WLS journey.

Hope they help sort everything soon and that your ok.

Best Wishes,
Helen xx

Just wanted to reassure you Shannon that gallbladder removal surgery is minor when compared to what you have already been through with the bypass.

awhh thank you everyone for your kind words...i know that i will receive really good care with my surgeon, and although i know that if i need surgery i will have to have it, but its disheartening, i wasnt aware of this might happening so i do hope people might come across this and just keep in mind that to report white poos because it might potentially be something to worry about xx

Sending you lots of hugs, Shannon & hoping you get through it all quickly so you can get back to your new life xxx :)

My sister had her gall bladder removed at the same time as her bypass as, aparantly it is so common for the gall bladder to be next on the list that many surgeons remove it so you don't have to have another op in the near future. Just shows there is method behind the madness there.

So very sorry that you are having problems like this. Take care and try to keep calm about it and, hopefully, you will get sorted out quickly so you can relax and enjoy your new life once more :)
