Due to meet my surgeon tomorrow for my first consultation, on Friday i found out i have gallstones, would they still let me go ahead with the surgery whilst got these?

hi empress paula, sorry i don't know the answer to your question, but i am glad you asked it. I too am waiting for sugery and i also have gallstones. I would love to think that when we are under the anesthetic the surgeon would do both!!
:D:D We couldn't be that lucky eh!!
I will wait and see what replies you get !!
:p

im a bander 4 yrs plus i still have gall stones but they cause me no probs so they left em.

Hi there Paula

I have gall stones also. My original referral was to have the gall bladder and bypass done together however my surgeon prefers to do them separetly. They will do the bypass first and then when my weight is reduced they will do the gall bladder.

Apparently the op takes twice as long when they are doing both at the same time and do not like to keep you under that long in one go. Also if you have complications after surgery it is easier for them to work out what has gone wrong if they have carried out one procedure as opposed to two.

I do know though that some surgeons prefer to remove tha gall bladder at the same time.

Either way, having gall stones should not prevent you from having wls.

:)

Hi - have you watched 'Fat Doctor' on TV? They seem to remove the gallbladder as they do lap bands.

I also have gallbladder problem...One of the most painful things in my experience...I dread it coming back so I would not say no to a removal...But to be honest I would imagine that the Gallbladder problem could improve after any wls...

~hugs~

Hi All thanks for the replys. I have now spoken to the surgeon and he prefers to not do the gallbladder at same time, and you are right the new eating regime should keep the pains at bay!
