WLS Group/ BMI Alexandra Hospital manchester

Has anybody on here been with the WLS Group, at the BMI Alexandra hospital Manchester with Dr Khurshid Akhtar if so any good or bad comments?
And how was ur experience?

Yes, no and yes lol

I had my surgery through WLS Group, not at the same hospital but had the same surgeon.

You will be in safe hands the Dr is lovely and really puts you at ease, cant comment on the care you will get at the hospital - as WLS Group 'buy in' the beds and care at the hospitals ie they dont have their own so use others but Im sure you will be well looked after.

The aftercare I received was fantastic, having had a band its so important to get that part right.

May be a silly question but if ur private do u always get ur own room or are there bays like the nhs?

Hi, I had a sleeve done by wls same dr and same hospital, in October 2011.
Couldn't fault surgeon, the Alex or wls group.....support is still excellent.
All rooms are private at the Alex and u will receive wonderful service. X

I had mine at Preston, it was £1,000 cheaper at the time, so whats a girl to do?

Omg which hospital? I am from Preston.

It was a very small private hospital not far from the motorway, they dont use it anymore I dont think. It had a travel inn close by too for my other half to stay in - I cant for the life of me remember the name DOH!

Was it like a little clinic where they do Botox and peels etc on a industrial estate if so that's where I went for my first meeting with wls group?

My op went brill no problems what so ever, no wind pain and hardly any pain what so ever wish I had done it years ago, Alexandra was nice, good care just rubbish admin that was my only problem, but Janice had hers there to with no problems. Surgeon was lovely and the wls group r brill for aftercare, call weekly for first 6 weeks then monthly, plus u see their nurse 4 weekly to check ur ok and a 24 hour help line if any problems, so can highly recommended them.
Just ask away if u have any other questions, where u from? Xxxx

I went to Brussels last week through wls group it was great taxis everywhere I was never left standing. And when I arrived at the hosp for surgery the surgeon met me at the door! I was impressed the level of care was fantastic x
