 Hi im having my surgery at Sunderland and i was wondering if anyone knew how many weeks before the big op do you get your appointment ? 11 weeks have past for my 18 week wait (around18 wks) .
Do you have another appointment with the dietitian or do they just send a diet sheet with your date , thanks guys x

HI Bobo

SRH are not generally reknown for their admin! You might get a letter about 4 weeks before...but personally as it gets nearer the date I would ring the surgeon's secretary to ask...and keep ringing until they tell you! That's what i did.

You'll get the diet sheet a bit after that, maybe a week or so. No more appointments other than the pre-op one the week before surgery.

You see the dietician on the ward either before or after surgery.

Hope that helps.

Hello

from reading a few posts on here I was under the assumption that the waiting list had moved from 18 weeks to 26 weeks , thats what I read a short while ago on here, not sure if this is still the case etc.

All the best anyway - MeJulie x x

:eek:oh i hope not , ill give them a ring tomorrow , thanks to you both xxx

Sorry Bobo, but the wait is definitely now 26weeks. That means mine won't be 'til mid November. If u ring & they tell u otherwise I'd be eager to know....

Take care

omg , im gutted , why do they not tell you these things ? would be nice to know lol .. we have been trying to organise time off for my hubby xx

:(:(:(:(:(:( I'm really fed up now , that means i will be due to have it done the week before Xmas , i feel like iv been waiting forever lol , i was hoping last year i would have it done by Xmas but then my appointment got moved .... oh well i suppose its more time to get fit xx

I wish they would keep us more informed too. I only found out thru this forum, I think its was ChecfClay who posted the thread! I too was gutted cos my op should have been next month :-(

But we just have to keep our chin(s) up!! Ha ha.......

Hi BoBo, my provisional date is 17th September. (3 days before the end of 26th week)
No letter as yet, but phoned Mr. Small's Sec yesterday and she confirmed date and that the letter & bumph was in the process of being mailed out to me..
I still maintain that Sld admin efficiency could be improved, with only three weeks left and all the uncertainty, it would have been nice to have a little extra time to sort out work, hols, kids, etc!
I appreciate they are extremely busy with the increasing demand, but there does seem to be a 'wasteland' between the seminar/group meetings and the official hospital side.
Maybe there could be some form of Liason person that could help allay people's concerns and reduce the pressure on the admin. Will bring it up at the next meeting (next week)
It seems so long since this journey started (over 18mths), yet really it is only at the very beginning!
Take care & hope you get sorted soon - Paul xx

Iv not had a date for the pre-op yet , iv rang the secretary today and she confirmed i would be looking at Dec now rather than October which would be the same as you Paul 18 months from the seminar , in a small way i'm pleased as it gives me more time to prepare and my hubby has two weeks off over Xmas , I just hope i get my appointment before and not after. She did say they operate until the week before Xmas. I'm planning to come to Thursdays meeting next week so will hopefully see you there xxx

I agree with you Paul, their admin is very lax & I'm at a loss how they get away with it. I know we are lucky to get surgery on NHS, that they are busy etc. BUT, we've got commitments too that need sorting such as work, kids etc.

Wish I could come to meeting next week but I'm taking kids away for couple of days. Hope you all get at some of your questions answered.

Take care
