    Question for post op L&D'ers

They will keep you in as long as you need to be. I was also told it would probably be 2 nights but had my op 5 o'clock on Monday and was told I could go home Tuesday as I was drinking OK and had no pain.

    gallstones

Hi Janebell I have had gallstones for 15 years and they would flare up ever year or so. A couple of times I had one stuck in a duct and had jaundice and became quite ill for a few weeks. Thankfully both times the gallstone moved itself and the symptoms subsided. I had my sleeve op last week and...

    4 week Milk diet done....and i lost a total of ....

I didn't get on too well with the refeed diet either and ended up just trying to make sure my calorie count was somewhere between 1200-1500. I went back on the milk for a couple of days if I felt I was eating too much or going back to bad habits. I have managed to lose a further 1 stone 12 lbs...

    4 week Milk diet done....and i lost a total of ....

The milk diet from the L&D is 3-5 pints of semi skimmed milk per day (depending on BMI) - for most people the limit is around 4 pints. (I have a very high BMI and my guide was 4-5 pints but I could still only managed 4 pints!) 1 or 2 salty drinks (oxo/bovril/stock cubes ( I like the Knorr ham...

    4 week Milk diet done....and i lost a total of ....

Well done Andy! I have just gone back on the milk diet for my pre-op so am joining you with my 4 pints a day :). I read somewhere that someone described the 4 weeks as week 1 - Hard going week 2&3 - So much easier, not really hungry, get used to not eating food. Week 4 - starting to get bored...

    Got my date

Aw that's a real shame Woo5001 :( but at least 15th Feb is not too far away. I am convinced mine will be postponed and I know my hospital only tend to give you a day or two's notice - but I am so hoping it isn't as the 6th Feb fits in really nicely with the kid's half term being the week after...

Best and worst bits if Gastric Sleeve

I am pre-op so cannot comment on any experiences and am also very interested to hear from you lovely experienced post-opers :) When I had my appointment with the surgeon a couple of weeks ago I asked him about the risks of leaks with a sleeve. His comments were that any major leaks would...

    Thumbs up to Northants PCT

Hi Divvy. I believe Northants currently go along with NICE guidelines (so Bmi 40 or over with no co-morbidities or over 35 with co-morbidities)

    Gallstones

Hi Becksdaykin, I am having a sleeve (probably!) done at the Luton & Dunstable. I have suffered with gallstones every couple of years for the past 15 years but no-one has wanted to operate because of my weight. I have an appointment with the surgeon on 4th October but the doctor and nurse I have...

    Eating disorders

Hi Caren I am with the NHS and have been attending an eating disorder group (through the NHS) since Summer 2010. This group is for people with emotional issues regarding food as opposed to someone with a diagnosed eating disorder. However when I had my psychologist appointment last month for the...
