Hi blue
sorry ppi's are proton pump inhibitors, they

stop the production of acid unlike the ones you buy over the counter that try to neutralise it, without much success in many cases!
Lansoprazole, omeprazole, esomeprazole, zoton fast tab are all ppi's. Sometimes you have to be careful they dont contradict other meds you are having, for example I have to take a blood thinner called clopidogrel, and recent research has shown that ppi's reduce the blood thinning properties of the clopidogrel which naturally is a worry for me but I am unable to live an anywhere normal life without taking them so have to weigh up the risks.
If you suffer with acid reflux a lot I would suggest speaking with your doc.
Alternatively there is a prescription only neutraliser which is better than over the counter ones called ranitadine, this doesnt stop acid production but it reduces it instead. It was absolutely useless in my case but it can be quite successful for many depending of the severity of the disease.
