Hi guys

I have recently has my initial appointment with Mr El-Hasani at the PRU and he has advised gastric bypass for me. I was expecting a letter to go to a group forum but have received a letter to see the Nurse specialist.

Does anyone know what this would be for as it does not explain in the letter?

Thanks all

Not sure hunny but it may just b to take some bloods of you, check your weight and see if you fully understand about your op. Give them a ring Hun and ask them I'm sure they'll be happy to have a word with you about it xxx

All places seem different. I saw the nurse specialist, then the dietician before I saw the consultant - but those appointments were all on the same day.

The nurse from my pre-op appointment went through a lot of info with me, did an ecg, discussed the op and what would happen on the day of op and afterwards etc. I guess that if you didn't see a nurse when you saw surgeon it would just be to go through various points with you. As suggested though, give them a ring to find out for sure.

Will do guys thanks

Sorry love, I don't know about your area... hoping some one who is local to you may read this soon... I rang the hospital in the early days to check out support options and was so pleased with the Salford group meeting. The support groups are so helpful alongside attending all appointments.

I saw a specialist nurse when we discussed the pre op... wondering if it could be to do with that.

Love and hugs xxx

Thanks Bev I will look into support groups in my area

Hi Kim

I am having a lap band fitted by Mr El-Hasani at Chelsfield on 3rd April. I have an appointment with the nurse the week before to have bloods, ECG etc. Having said that if you have not even been given a date for surgery yet this may be something different. I agree that you should ring and check otherwise you will be worried about it.

Good luck on your journey.......love Lyndie x

Hi Kizzy, your next consultation is probably with Starr , it is an information session and for you sign the consent form to be put on the waiting list, no tests or anything, most of them have been done at Orpington and they are done in small groups,
