Anyone from East Sussex?

Hi Lisa and Noreen. Funding was approved last July. Saw the consultant Mr Slater at Chichester end of April. Now just waiting to hear about a physchology, dietician and anethatist appointment. From then on, its a matter of weeks I believe. I visited a friend of a friend on Saturday who had the bypass in Feb of this year and has lost over 4 stone since. She's given me a real insight into what happens, how you feel, what you feel etc.
Lisa, you will probably end up at Chichester too. It really is the best of the best from what people have said.
My friend's friend told me that after her op, the consultant, as soon as he came out of theatre, the first thing he does is ring your partner to tell them how it went! Now that is first class service! All the best. Julie

Have anyone of you had your surgery yet?

Thank you for the info. How long did you have to wait for funding approval? Did your GP apply for funding first or did he refer you to the surgeon straight away?

Hi Lisa - keep firing away with the questions - we all do when we're first starting out! I saw my GP about wls at start of July and I think funding was approved almost immediately. I had tried all the usual medications available (inlcuding accomplia which had horrendous side effects - I was contemplating suicide 3 times a day!) which you have too and once you've done that, the next step is referral for wls. A lady I work with had a gastric band a few years ago at Tunbridge Wells and I thought it would be there I would be referred but, according to my GP, the surgeons there don't do wls anymore (or didn't anyway!) Julie x

What do you mean by 'straight away'? Did your GP apply for funding first or did you see the surgeon first? Sorry, lots of questions!
" straight away" well gp sent my letter off and funding was given before my initial appointment i have co-morbidities that went as a plus to get funding i think. I am aware through other threads on here that criterias for funding have change or is different in different counties. xx

Hi Spikey -

I wonder if we will have surgery at the same time as your dates are similar to mine. I saw Mr Tim John on the 26th of March and now waiting for a date for the 2nd appointment and then the surgery date. If you see a fat lady with curly hair....that's me!!!! LOL
