Hi i had gastric bypass surgery 1st April by shaw somers at chichester all went extremly smoothly, and im losing very well. From first being referred to chichester which was my choice of hospital to operation date it took nearly a year. hope this helps, if you'dlike to know anything else please don't hesitate to ask. xxHave anyone of you had your surgery yet?
Hi Lisa and Noreen. Funding was approved last July. Saw the consultant Mr Slater at Chichester end of April. Now just waiting to hear about a physchology, dietician and anethatist appointment. From then on, its a matter of weeks I believe. I visited a friend of a friend on Saturday who had the bypass in Feb of this year and has lost over 4 stone since. She's given me a real insight into what happens, how you feel, what you feel etc.
Lisa, you will probably end up at Chichester too. It really is the best of the best from what people have said.
My friend's friend told me that after her op, the consultant, as soon as he came out of theatre, the first thing he does is ring your partner to tell them how it went! Now that is first class service! All the best. Julie
mine was west sussex pct, i got funding straight away, chichester has a long waiting list or did thats why i waitied soooo long i think.
" straight away" well gp sent my letter off and funding was given before my initial appointment i have co-morbidities that went as a plus to get funding i think. I am aware through other threads on here that criterias for funding have change or is different in different counties. xxWhat do you mean by 'straight away'? Did your GP apply for funding first or did you see the surgeon first? Sorry, lots of questions!
